The Village of Donnellson, Illinois is centrally located on Illinois Route 127 between two cities. To the north is Hillsboro, the Montgomery County seat. To the south is Greenville, the Bond County seat. Donnellson is at the southern border of Montgomery County and stretches into Bond County. As of the 2020 census, our population was 153. Originally known as "Bear Creek", the name was changed to Donnellson in 1851. Our village was established in 1854 and incorporated in 1897. We strive to continue the principles upon which our village was formed; a central location between two points. The Village of Donnellson employs five part-time employees.
We are surrounded by vast farmland, in addition to hunting and fishing opportunities. For those who enjoy antiques, we are located on the central Illinois antique circuit.
Our Community Center is available for rental to groups and individuals. We offer a full size gymnasium, a large meeting room, and/or a fully equipped kitchen. Call the village office for information.
